State Bank of India (SBI) has decided to carve out a new Circle (Jaipur) from the existing Delhi and bifurcate the Hyderabad Circle into Andhra Pradesh (new) and Telangana Circles.

As a result of this, the number of Circles under the National Banking Group would increase to 16 from 14 now.

The 16 Circles are Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh (new), Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Jaipur (new), Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, North-East, Patna, Telangana, and Thiruvananthapuram.

Structural shake-up Earlier, the Executive Committee of the Central Board of SBI had approved the creation/reorganisation of Circles, networks, administrative offices and regional business offices following the merger of five associate banks and Bharatiya Mahila Bank.

The merger was made effective from April 1. The reorganised structures/outfits, including the two new circles of Jaipur and Andhra Pradesh, will become operational from April 24.

The data integration of each bank would be taken up separately, the schedule for which will be advised in due course.

Post-merger, in order to handle the increased number of branches/other offices and business levels in the National Banking Group, the bank had approved creation/reorganisation of circles, networks, administrative offices, and regional business offices. Accordingly, the new Jaipur Circle will have its local head office at Jaipur, covering the State of Rajasthan.

Andhra Pradesh will have its local head office at Amravati/Vijayawada.

The jurisdiction of the Telangana Circle will run through the remaining part of the present Hyderabad Circle, covering the State of Telangana with its local head office at Hyderabad.

Till such time the new local head office building of Andhra Pradesh Circle at Amravati/Vijayawada becomes ready, it will function from Hyderabad.

As local head offices of these two circles will be presently located at Hyderabad, to avoid ambiguity and also for administrative convenience, it is proposed to name the circles as Andhra Pradesh Circle and Telangana Circle.

Meanwhile, as part of the reorganisation, eight new networks are proposed to be created as follows: Bengaluru (1); Chandigarh (1); Delhi (1); Jaipur (2); Mumbai (1); Telangana (1); and Thiruvananthapuram (1).

Twenty-five new administrative offices are proposed to be created as follows: Andhra Pradesh (2); Bengaluru (5); Chandigarh (3); Chennai (1); Delhi (2); Jaipur (4); Mumbai (3); Telangana (3); and Thiruvananthapuram (2).

A hundred new regional business offices are proposed to be created. These would be: Andhra Pradesh (5); Bengaluru (21); Chandigarh (15); Chennai (3); Delhi (3); Jaipur (22); Mumbai (5); Telangana (14); and Thiruvananthapuram (12).
