The Kerala state committee of the All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) has warned of a strike against the ‘anti-trade union’ activities of Dhanlaxmi Bank management.
It took exception to the transfer of officers of affiliate Dhanlaxmi Bank Officers Organisation to ‘distant centres against all conventions and understanding’.
Favours are deliberately being showered on a rival but minority organisation with the aim of weakening the affiliate, Abraham Shaji John, state secretary, AIBOC, said.
The AIBOC state committee asked the management to immediately desist from intimidating, harassing and victimising officers, leaders and members of the union and initiate discussions to sort out pending issues.
Anti-trade union activities of the management had started some one year back after officers blew the whistle on unethical practices in the bank with the knowledge of the top brass, John said.
If the officers continue to be targeted, the AIBOC will oppose it by initiating direct action, he added.
The AIBOC state committee felt that the failure to sort out industrial relations was the root cause of the unimpressive performance and not too good financials of the bank. This was in turn making it a soft target for takeover.
The state committee extended total support to the strike called by the Dhanlaxmi Bank Officers Organisation on May 29 and 30.
