Public sector lender Vijaya Bank is targeting a business of Rs 1.9-lakh crore by the end of the third quarter of 2013-14.
Speaking on the sidelines of an event at the regional office of the bank in Mangalore on Tuesday, Chairman and Managing Director H.S. Upendra Kamath, said the bank’s business was about Rs 1.2-lakh crore when he assumed charge two-and-a-half years ago.
The business, he said, is likely to touch around Rs 1.9-lakh crore by December 31, 2013.
“Our dream was to ‘build a bank within the bank’, which means we wanted to double the business. But that did not happen.
“However, the bank saw around 60 per cent growth during the period,” he said
The bank is also laying emphasis on expanding its branch network. vinayak.aj@thehindu.co.in
