Last week, the Indian Government had intiated the Vande Bharat mission to bring back stranded Indians from different parts of the world in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.

India is conducting flights to the UAE, US, UK, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Qatar to repatriate Indian nationals between May seventh and May thirteenth.

India is also sending flights to Malaysia, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Philippines,Oman and Bahrain.

The Indian Navy are also playing an active role in repatriating Indians from different parts of the world

INS Jalashwa and INS Magar were dispatched to repatriate Indian citizens stranded in the Maldives under Operation “Samudra Setu” while INS Shardul and INS Airavat were dispatched to the UAE.

On May 7, A plant of LG Polymers India Private Ltd in Visakhapatnam witnessed a gas leak that claimed 11 lives and led to the hospitalisation of hundreds of people.

Eight persons were seriously injured when a fire broke out in a furnace of a boiler in one of the units of Thermal Power Station II in Neyveli on the same day.

In the week ahead, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with chief ministers of various states via video conference on Monday regarding the Covi  d-19 situation.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold a meeting with chief executives of Public Sector banks as well as the Chairman of State Bank of India to review the flow of credit into the economy from these banks.
