The first Covid-19 case reported on March 2, 2020. The total number of positive cases stands around 3 lakh on Tuesday.
During the initial phase, there was little information on the treatment protocols and medication to treat the infected. The Telangana government identified the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital as a Covid healthcare facility. The state has faced sharp criticism for not disclosing information on the number of cases and the availability of diagnostic centres and hospital beds, also under-reporting of the deaths. Lack of infrastructure and hospital beds pushed the death rate.
Telangana also stumbled like every other state due to the unprecedented challenge caused by the spread of Covid-19. Small and medium scale businesses were impacted too.
