The Government’s expert panel National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) has said that there should be a gap of 12 to 16 weeks between both doses of the Covishield vaccine. They also said that there were not going to be any changes regarding the Covaxin doses.

In March 2021, experts had suggested a gap of four to six weeks between both doses, citing reasons such as being more effective.

The increased gap comes at a time when the country is facing an acute shortage of resources especially vaccines.
