Hi! I am Siddharth, and welcome to Quick look.

Today, I want to talk to you about the three major events from the last week -- India’s rising Covid-19 cases, the opening of Asia’s (?) Largest solar field in madhya Pradesh and finally, a decision by the US supreme court that can hurt US president Donald Trump.

India added a record 28,637 cases of coronavirus infection on Sunday pushing the country’s Covid-19 tally to 8,49,553.

According to Union Health Ministry data, The death toll climbed to 22,674 with 551 people succumbing to the disease in a day.

The number of recoveries stands at 5,34,620, while there are 2,92,258 active cases of coronavirus infection.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called for more local manufacturing in the solar energy generation sector.

“India is also focussing, reducing its dependence on imports of various hardware needed for solar plants, like Photovoltaic Cells, Battery and Storage,” Modi said this while dedicating the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar (RUMS) Power Project in Madhya Pradesh to the nation.

Last Thursday, The US Supreme Court rejected President Donald Trump’s arguments for sweeping presidential immunity and ruled that a New York prosecutor can obtain his financial records but prevented the Democratic-led House of Representatives committees from getting similar documents.

President Donald Trump commuted the sentence of his longtime friend and adviser Roger Stone sparing him from prison after he was convicted of lying under oath to lawmakers investigating Russian interference in the 2016 US election.

Thank you and wishing you all a great week ahead
