Cyclone ‘Nivar’ is expected to intensify further into a very severe cyclonic storm on Wednesday evening. It is likely to make a landfall between Karaikal, Mamallapuram and around Puducherry during midnight and into the small hours of Thursday. The heavy rainfall has led to water-logging in various parts of Chennai city as wll as Mamallapuram and has also damaged property.
