Tamil Nadu Assembly, on Tuesday, adopted 10 bills at the end of the two-day session.
On Monday, Durai Murugan, Minister for Water Resources, introduced a Bill to enact a legislation for levy of tax on minerals bearing lands. This was aimed at augmenting the State’s revenue.
Thangam Thenarasu, Minister for Finance and Environment & Climate Change, introduced the Tamil Nadu Heritage Commission (Amendment) Bill 2024 to protect the heritage buildings in the State.
The Bill seeks to include a member of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department in the Tamil Nadu Heritage Commission. It also seeks to expand the scope of local authority specified in the Tamil Nadu Heritage Commission Act, 2012.
Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration P Moorthy introduced an amendment to the Tamil Nadu Goods and Services Tax, to make it in sync recent decisions of the GST Council.
On Monday, 10 bills were passed in the Assembly. One of the bills was levy of 10 per cent on concerts, dramas, and shows conducted by institutions, including education institutions.
