The three employees of the BSC-C&C joint venture road construction company kidnapped in western Meghalaya, reportedly by the outlawed Garo National Liberation Army, have been freed.
The employees are safe and back at the project work site, said B. Seenaiah, Managing Director of the Hyderabad-based B. Seenaiah and Company (Projects) Ltd.
They were released by the kidnappers late on Monday night. The banned group had minor demands and post negotiations the three were released, he told Business Line here.
On Saturday afternoon, Manoj Kumar, Deepak Kumar and A.K. Sharma, hailing from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, respectively, who were returning to Guwahati in a vehicle, were ambushed and abducted at gunpoint by a group of 10 heavily armed persons.
While BSC is a Hyderabad company, C&C is a Gurgaon-headquartered firm. They formed joint ventures to specially take up road projects in the North-East.
The joint venture is implementing the 265-km-long stretch of road project connecting Shillong to Tura at an estimated cost of Rs 1,494 crore.
