The city of Mumbai has a rich heritage of history and architecture. Now, one more unexplored gem is opened for the tourists - the Bombay High Court building.
Owing to the protocol, the entry in the building was restricted till recently. The High Court building will now be accessible to tourists, following the efforts of Jayant Kumar Banthia, Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, who sought permission from the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court for starting a ‘Heritage Walk’.
‘Heritage Walk’ on weekends will be facilitated by TOGA (Tour Guides Association), only when it is not a working day at the High Court. MTDC has now received the required permissions and soon ‘Heritage Walk’ will be included in their itinerary.
The Heritage Walk will be in the presence of police authorities and the court keeper between 8.00 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays of every month except the Court’s working Saturdays.
However, photography of the interiors of the court rooms or High Court Building is prohibited.
