Delhi witnessed a war of grey cells on Sunday morning with corporate houses sending their best quizzers for the Cerebration — the Business Line corporate quiz.

And it was a battle of wits, concentration and quick thinking as about 50 teams, who qualified for the fourth regional round after an online round, pitted against each other to enter the finals to be held in Mumbai on January 26.

Following the preliminary round, in which teams of two from Indian Oil Corporation, Deloitte, NTPC, CSC among others participated, it was finally down to six teams — HCL Technologies, Reckitt-Benckiser, Genpact, State Bank of India, NTPC and CSC.

Not to be left behind, college students too marked their presence and gave the working professionals a run for their money.

Dheeraj and Nikhil Bhat from LMN Institute of Information Technology, who missed a spot in the top six by just one mark, came all the way from Jaipur to take part in this competition.

Students from other institutes such as IMT and BIMTECH also participated in the event.

After six exciting rounds full of speed and energy there was none to beat Genpact's Rohan Khanna and Anupam Jain, who won the competition by a wide margin with 115 points at the end of the finals in Delhi.

The duo scored the highest in the competition so far, which has already taken place in Chennai, Hyderabad and Coimbatore.

The runners-up — Gautam Rajgopalan and Tanmay Prusty from Reckitt-Benckiser — followed at 45 points.

The competition will next go to Bangalore and then finally to Mumbai.

Quix master Giri ‘Pickbrain’ Balasubramanian said, “It is very heartening to see Business Line embracing quizzing as a form of communication… to establish a brand footprint in other centres (besides South India).”

He added that the quiz, India’s first current affairs business quiz, which requires knowledge of the modern business environment is of more relevance that just the knowledge of historic data.

Raghavan Srinivasan, Business Line ’s Chief of Bureau in Delhi, added, “We (the paper) aim to empower our readers not just with information but with insightful knowledge that they can use to succeed in whatever they do.”

Corporation Bank is the principal sponsors of the event, while NCDEX and SAIL are the associate sponsors and KSG group the regional sponsor.
