The Maitree Project, a 1320 MW (2x660 MW) coal based power project, developed by the Bangaldesh India Friendship Power Company Ltd (BIFPCL), is likely to be commissioned by December 2018.
BIFPCL is a 50-50 joint venture (JV) between India’s NTPC Ltd and Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). The JV was incorporated in October 2011, in Bangladesh.
It is developing the super critical coal-based power unit – Maitree Project – at Rampal, in the Bagerhat district under Khulna division of Bangladesh.
According to a release issued by the JV company, the ninth board meeting of BIFPCL was held here in the city on Saturday where it was stressed on “the need to commission the unit of the Maitree power project by December 2018.”
The board meet was held under the chairmanship of Monowar Islam, Secretary, Power, Government of Bangladesh. Also present was Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC.
The other people who attended the meeting include Anwar Hossain, Director BIFPCL & Joint Secretary of Power Bangladesh; Abduhu Ruhullah, Director, BIPFCL and Chairman, Bangaldesh Power Development Board; AK Jha, Director (Technical), NTPC and VS Tamrakar, MD, BIFPCL.
