The Chennai-based Hindustan University has conferred an honorary Doctorate of Letters (Honoris Causa) on Mallika Srinivasan, Chairperson of TAFE, India’s second largest tractor manufacturer.
Mallika Srinivasan received the doctorate at the university’s third annual convocation held at Chennai recently. The citation recognised “her ability to innovate new products and processes, to surmount and transform difficult situations into profitable ones,” besides various other qualities.
The Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, K. V. Thomas, presented the honours. The Degree of Doctorate of Letters was also conferred upon M. Narendra, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Overseas Bank.
In her acceptance speech, she dedicated her achievement to the farming community, which serves the nation. She urged students to focus on future goals with a positive attitude and hold on to unswerving values to lead them towards the path of excellence, says a press release.
