After the success of The Avengers , Disney India is pulling out all stops as it releases Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier at the Indian box office on Friday.

The superhero film will be released across 1,200 screens in over 200 cities in the country, one of the widest releases for a Hollywood movie in India. Iron Man 3 , another big Hollywood release last year, was shown in 1,100 screens in the country.

The company, which has been aggressively ramping up its consumer products range, has also tied up with as many as 16 brands for Captain America -inspired merchandise.

The superhero film is being released in both the 2-D and 3-D formats and besides the English release, it has been dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu as well. Amrita Pandey, Vice-President and Head, Theatrical, Television and Digital Distribution - Studio, Disney India, said, “Action as a genre works well with our audiences when it comes to Hollywood films and we are confident that the film will be enjoyed thoroughly by all.”

From clothes and footwear to toys and portable speakers, Captain America fans can look out for branded merchandise range across categories. Brands such as Cottonworld, Celio, Bioworld, Vox Pop, Max and Zovi will offer Captain America -inspired range of apparel, Myntra is offering both Captain America branded clothes and footwear.

Similarly, Macmerise, Spring Onion and Be for Bag have tied up for accessories, while Hasbro, distributed by Funskool, will be offering toys inspired by the character. D’décor, Sasson, Nayasa and Joyo Plastics have come on board for branded home furnishings and other home-related products.

Sahil Shah, Owner of Macmerise, which is launching a range of Captain America -inspired iPhone covers and skins said, The Avengers franchise has resulted in a huge fan base for Captain America in India and there is a large demand for such products.
