The first budget exercise of Telangana State formally commenced on Friday.
In his first review meeting with the senior officials at the Secretariat here today, Finance Minister Etela Rajender has directed officials to provide key information of all basic data in crisp form.
"We will activate all data collection so that decisions are based on accurate information, " he said.
He also surprised officials by asking what percentage of available data was accurate. About 92 per cent was reliable, was the reply given by the officials.
Irregularities in white ration cards and other beneficiaries should be capped so that deserving people would not be deprived of the benefits, he added.
"Everything depends on right data," the minister said.
