For the first time in the last ten days, new cases of Coronavirus reported in Chennai was below 1,000. This resulted in the State reporting a lesser number of new cases at 1,515 to take the total infected to 48,019.
After 1,438 covid patients were discharged, the total number of active cases in the State is 20,706.
Chennai today saw 919 new cases taking the total infected to 34,245. Of this, 18,565 patients have been discharged after treatment to leave the total number of active cases in the city at 15,257.
The number of deaths on Monday due to Coronavirus saw a new high at 49 taking the total number of fatalities due to the virus to 528 (422 in Chennai alone).
On Monday, 19,242 blood samples were tested for the infection, says a bulletin by the Health ministry.
