Veteran anti-graft crusader, Mr Anna Hazare, has reached the Capital a day before Team Anna’s indefinite fast for a ‘strong’ Lokpal begins in Jantar Mantar on Wednesday.
However, according to sources, Mr Hazare will be on ‘dharna’ due to health reasons, while Team Anna members, Mr Arvind Kejriwal, Mr Manish Sisodia and Mr Gopal Rai will go on fast. Mr Hazare is slated to address the media later in the evening.
Meanwhile, Team Anna on Tuesday released a video address by Mr Hazare, in which he has threatened a country-wide ‘jail bharo’ agitation if the UPA Government does not concede to their demands in the next three-four days.
“Why are they not bringing Lokpal Bill? Because 15 of the 35 Ministers face corruption allegations. Probe them. Punish them, if they are guilty. But the Government is not willing to do so. We are left with only one way (to protest),” he said in his address.
Mr Hazare reiterated Team Anna’s demand for an independent Special Investigation Team to probe the corruption allegations against 14 Cabinet members in the UPA–II Government.
A few days ago, Team Anna had released some documents leveling corruption charges against the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, the Home Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, former Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, among others.
