Apollo Hospitals, in association with the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (Union), is launching a pilot on spreading awareness on treatment for tuberculosis with a Web-based programme.

As part of the pilot, Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills branch will get integrated with the Government of India’s TB notification portal 'Nikshay'. It will send alerts and messages to the patients on the need to adhere to the treatment without discontinuity, Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals, told newspersons here on Friday.

Sarabjit Chadha, Project Director – India, Union, said TB causes 1000 deaths everyday and needs to be tackled by creating proper awareness among patients and others.

The involvement of Apollo is a first of its kind initiative from a private healthcare player with national TB control programmes, he claimed.
