Avengers: Age of Ultron earned about Rs 10.85 crore on Friday at the Indian box office, where it has been released nearly a week prior to the U.S. release date.
Trade analysts said this is more than double of the first day collections of the first instalment of Avengers at the Indian box office, which was released in 2012.
The movie has been released across more than 1,500 screens in the country and is available in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
“The Avengers sequel was the most anticipated English movie of the year and Marvel’s Avenger franchise just keeps getting bigger with each movie release here,” said Amrita Pandey, VP and Head of Distribution and Marketing, Studios, Disney India.
She added, “What’s really a big win for us is that our marketing focus was also on the Hindi audience and the movie’s got a great response from the Hindi audience and regions. The opening day numbers are phenomenal considering it was a working Friday.”
