Seeking to widen its customer base, e-learning platform Career Anna has chalked out a plan to reach out to working professionals in African and other South Asian countries.

“Last year, around 15 per cent of our customers came from Brazil, Nigeria, Dubai and Qatar and in the next one year we plan to double the number with a strong focus on African and South Asian countries,” said Varun Saxena, Founder, Career Anna.

As these are also emerging economies, the requirements of professionals in these countries are very similar to India. This makes it easy to reach out to them, he added.

Career Anna, launched in 2014, raised ₹3 crore this year and the company has enrolled 16,000 paying customers so far in the year.

The ticket size of a course — depending on the skill-set — ranges from ₹8,000 to ₹20,000.

Impact of e-learning

“In the last 4-5 years, the cost of coaching institutes has increased by almost 250 per cent. On the contrary, their online alternatives have become cheaper by almost 60 per cent.

“Opting for e-platforms has not only reduced the financial burden for the learners but also saved them travel time as they simply have to log on to their devices,” Saxena said.

Another reason for a rise in demand is that in the online education format there is no restriction of seats, he added.
