For the first time in India, an International Rail Coach Expo (IRCE) event on rail coaches and train sets will be held in Chennai providing a platform to bring together different suppliers under one roof and create synergies for ‘Make in India.’
Hosted by Integral Coach Factory in coordination with CII and RITES Ltd, the expo will be held from May 17 to 19 at ICF, the world’s largest rail manufacturing unit and part of the Indian Railways. About 100 exhibitors from nearly ten countries will participate in the expo, says a press release from ICF.
Exclusive platform
Major rail-coach/train-set brands will display their products focussing on innovation and future technologies. There will be an exclusive platform to meet and interact with decision makers and senior officials of ICF and other Indian Railway production units. There will also be a display of rolling stock designs including interiors, passenger amenities and other comfort features. Development of rolling stock, including emerging technologies in manufacturing of train coaches with stainless steel and aluminium car body, will also be showcased.
Conferences/seminars on specialised subjects on rail coach and train-sets are also planned at the expo, the release said.
Tamil Nadu Governor, Banwarilal Purohit will be the Chief Guest. Other speakers include Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board; R Dinesh, Chairman, CII Southern Region and JMD of TV Sundram Iyengar & Sons; Sudhanshu Mani, General Manager, ICF, and CP Sharma, Chairman, CII – Railway Transport Equipment Division.
The expo will be open for public between 3 and 6 pm on May 17 and 18, the release said.
