Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and Centum Learning on Thursday announced the pilot launch of a programme to mobilise underprivileged youth for skills training.
The initiative aims to help implement the skill development scheme under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship — Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana — which plans to reach over 2.4 million people across the country, the company said in a statement.
The pilot in Bihar would cover a subscriber base of over 1.5 crore people. Post this; the scheme will be rolled out pan India by COAI member telcos to cover 400 million subscribers after the formal launch of the scheme in July.
As part of the initiative, telecom providers would send text and voice-based messages to the target audience and interested youth can give a missed call to a toll-free number 1800 102 6000, the statement said.
An interactive voice response to the candidate would capture relevant details on an online application followed up with a data analysis. Candidates would then be mapped to their nearest enrolment centres.
