The Congress and the JD(S) have officially started dialogues on the shape of their Cabinet in Karnataka. Both the parties have decided to form a co-ordination committee to ease the functioning of the government.

Chief Minister-designate HD Kumaraswamy met Congress president Rahul Gandhi here on Monday. Gandhi said they discussed the political situation in Karnataka and “other matters of mutual interest.”

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal and JD(S) leader Danish Ali were also present in the meeting.

“I will be attending his swearing-in as CM of Karnataka, on Wednesday, in Bengaluru,” Gandhi added. Kumaraswamy has also invited leaders of BSP, Left parties, AAP and other Opposition parties to attend the event.

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Trinamool Congress leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu and other senior Opposition leaders such as Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav, MK Stalin, Tejashwi Yadav, Sudhakar Reddy and D Raja will also attend the swearing-in ceremony.

“It was a good meeting. Rahulji cleared the initial modalities and asked Mr Venugopal to discuss all the concerned matters tomorrow in Delhi,” Kumaraswamy said. “I requested them to attend the oath-taking ceremony on Wednesday. Both of them agreed to be present,” Kumaraswamy said. .

There are differences among both the parties over creating two deputy chief minister posts.

Senior leaders, however, expressed confidence that all matters will be settled before the swearing-in and the co-ordination committee to ensure that the government functions smoothly.
