India reported 42,766 daily Covid cases on Saturday with 1,206 deaths in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am, as per the data published by the Health Ministry.

Kerala has the highest number daily Covid cases at 13,563, whereas Maharashtra ranks second at 8,992.

Also, most of the casualties were reported from Maharashtra at 738, followed by Kerala at 130.

Cumulatively, the country reported 3,07,95,716 infections of which the total death toll stood at 4,07,145, the recovered cases were at 2,99,33,538 and the active caseload was 4,55,033. There is an increasing trend in overall recovery rate, and it has further increased to 97.2 per cent with 45,254 patients recovering in the last 24 hours. 

Meanwhile, India conducted a total of 19,55,225 tests in the last 24 hours in the country with the cumulative tests of 42.920 crore done so far. It is to be noted that a declining trend in the weekly positivity rate has been observed and the weekly positivity rate is currently at 2.34 per cent while the daily positivity rate stands at 2.19 per cent on Saturday today. Daily Positivity rate has remained less than 3 per cent for 19 consecutive days and has remained below 5 per cent for 33 consecutive days now.

In addition, India administered a total of 37,21,96,268 vaccine doses so far with 30,55,802 doses given in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am, as per the data.
