Bengaluru-based agri-tech start-up CropIn Technology Solutions Pvt Ltd has strengthened its top deck with the appointment of three CXOs.

The B2B SaaS firm, which services 185 large and mid-segment enterprises in 30 countries, has hired Jitesh N Shah as the Chief Revenue Officer, Rupesh Rao as the Chief Customer Officer, and Rupesh Goel as the Chief Product Officer.

While Shah will be responsible for growing revenue by scaling and converting customer pilots and bringing in new business, Rao will work with existing clients, and also be responsible for mining customer accounts more deeply by up-selling and cross-selling.

Goel will be directly responsible for the release of CropIn 2.0, creating world-class user experience and user interface levels, and building APIs that ‘talk’ to customers’ legacy systems in farms, in order to integrate them with CropIn’s own systems.

Digitising agriculture

“Agriculture has been a black box traditionally, with hardly any digitisation. We are on the brink of bringing about a paradigm shift by using technology to bring in control, visibility, predictability, traceability, sustainability and compliance to the agriculture business globally,” Krishna Kumar, founder and CEO, CropIn, told BusinessLine . CropIn has raised $12 million to date, including an $8-million Series-B last quarter from Chiratae Ventures and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Strategic Investment Fund.

Through its SmartFarm platform, CropIn enables businesses that are part of the agricultural ecosystem adopt a data-driven approach, by providing real-time insights on crops based on high-resolution satellite imagery and weather forecasts.

CropIn’s client portfolio includes many large global agribusinesses, financial institutions, crop insurance companies, government bodies and development agencies.
