Delhi Law Minister and AAP leader Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested on the charges of forging mark sheets to get jobs. Tomar, against whom investigation was pending over the allegations of forgery, is under the custody of Police at present. He will be brought before the court soon.
Tomar said he was arrested by a team of 40 cops without even a warrant. He said the officials did not give any details of the case.
AAP strongly protested the arrest terming it as a vendetta politics by the BJP against the AAP Government. Party leader Sanjay Singh confirmed the arrest and said Tomar is kept in Hauz Khaz police station.
He said Tomar was arrested without a notice. "If the matter is of a degree certificate, why the Delhi Police is not taking (Union Ministers) Smriti Irani and Ram Shankar Katheria without a notice?" Singh asked.
The Police and the BJP have not responded to the development.
