The Delhi Government has collected a tax revenue of Rs 16,478 crore in the year 2010-11, registering a growth of 23 per cent over 2009-10.
“The collection has gone up from Rs 13,448 crore in 2009-10 to Rs 16,478 crore in 2010-11,” Chief Minister, Ms Sheila Dixit, who also holds the charge of Finance Department, said. She said value added tax (VAT) has fetched a maximum of Rs 12,068 crore in 2010-11 against a collection of Rs 10,126 crore in the preceding fiscal, posting a growth of 19.18 per cent.
The collection through tax on vehicles surged by 52.93 per cent compared with 2009-10. The government collected Rs 707 crore in 2010-11 against Rs 462 crore in 2009-10.
