Business school students should develop deeper analytical skills if they were to emerge successful in the corporate world, according to S. Sivakumar, Group Head, Agri and IT business of ITC.

Launching the eight-page Business Line On Campus here today, he said there were several rounds of ‘why’ to every question and students should not be content with answering the first couple of rounds.

Another focus area should be on taking up ownership to outcomes. “It is just not enough to perform the assigned task. But you should own the entire outcome. An entrepreneur, for instance, should not be satisfied by performing a task, but should own up the outcome,” he said.

The third aspect that students should inculcate right at the college level is a concern for society. For instance, the earnings gap between the rural and urban India. Rural India’s per capital is one third the rest of the country.

“Also, concern for environment is important. Whether you are in the corporate world or an entrepreneur, you should not overlook the concern for environment,” Sivakumar said.

He hoped that the Business Line campus edition would seek to fill up these gaps in business school students, which could ensure them success in the corporate arena.

M. Somashekar, Business Line’s Bureau Chief, Hyderabad, gave a presentation on the objectives and contents of the new edition, which is especially designed to give students that extra edge in understanding the economy and corporate world.

P. Ranga Reddy, Regional General Manager of The Hindu , Hyderabad, welcomed the gathering
