The Ernakulam Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, under the aegis of Investor Awareness and Protection Fund of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, conducted an investor awareness programme 2012 here.
Inaugurating the function, Mr T. S. Anantharaman, Director, Catholic Syrian Bank, highlighted the general scenario of share markets, various business opportunities for professionals and also offered tips for NRI investments. Even in the last one or two months when the markets were low, there were some scrip that gave reasonably good returns, he said. He also stressed the importance of careful selection of scrip backed with study of good fundamentals of the company.
Mr Saji Mathewy, Chairman, ICAI Ernakulam branch, presided over the function. Mr P.V.Hariharan, a financial consultant and tax expert, presented papers on Taxation on Securities dealings and Investments. Ms Minu Mathew, Secretary, addressed the gathering. Mr M. O. Poulose, Treasurer, Ernakulam Branch, proposed vote of thanks.
