The Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, will inaugurate an international conference on accountancy profession at Chennai on January 6.
This conference will bring together the region's most influential thought leaders in the field of accountancy, finance and business and also policymakers to share and gain fresh insights on global trends, issues and challenges, Mr G. Ramaswamy, ICAI President, told Business Line here.
He said that the conference, organised by the CA Institute, is returning to Chennai after a gap of five years. It is being held at a time when the accountancy profession is looking to take up newer level of commitments for meeting demands of trust, relevance, expectation gap and utility.
During his Chennai visit on January 6, the Finance Minister will also inaugurate Indian Bank's new corporate office. He will also attend an Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) event on the same day, informed sources said.
