Asian School of Business will introduce four industry-focused specialisations for its management course. It is also offering guaranteed paid summer internships for all students enrolling in the next academic year.
Startups and family businesses have been given special emphasis while finalising new specialisations.
Paid internships mark the start of a new trend in management education, says G. Vijaya Raghavan, Member-Secretary of the School and Member, State Planning Board.
He told newspersons here that the two-year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management course will now offer four new streams. These are hospital management and healthcare; construction management; innovation and entrepreneurship; and banking and financial services management.
Of these, the innovation and entrepreneurship module is designed specially for people looking to join startups or setting up projects on their own.
It will be of particular value to young graduates hailing from business families looking to join the family enterprise.
BANKING JOBS Banking and financial services sector is projected to become the biggest recruiter of graduates in the next five years.
The School is looking to be a key management skills builder in this area, Vijayaraghavan said. More details are available on http:// >www.asbindia.in>
Construction management stream will be open only to civil engineering graduates. Other specialisations may be opted for by graduates in any subject.
Hospital management and healthcare is one area that can help prove one’s proficiency in the sector.
Job prospects abound for those with professional qualifications and academic excellence in management, according to Vijayaraghavan.
A mix of professional and management qualifications could help them earn additional salary of 20 to 25 per cent.
George M. Thomas, patron of the School, and Raja Ratnam, Dean (Admissions) were also present at the news conference.
