Manipal Institute of Technology conducted a workshop on ‘Perspectives in science education and their relevance to technology’ in Manipal recently.
A press release said here that the objective of the workshop was to provide the participants a feel and flavour of science education. The workshop wanted to create interest among audience about science education and relevance of different perspectives to technology by providing a common platform for experts, researchers and industrial participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Gopal Vaidhyanathan, vice-president of Waters India Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, stressed on the importance of promoting scientific education for future technological requirements. He demonstrated various analytical techniques in qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis.
Vinod V. Thomas, director, Manipal Institute of Technology, who presided over the inaugural programme, highlighted the importance of science education to technology and the significance of technology to science education.
D. Ravindranath, deputy director at ISRO’s Master Control Facility at Hassan, presented the evolution of communication technology up to recent times.
Participating in the valedictory function, Srikanth Rao, Joint Director of Manipal Institute of Technology, said that the initiatives taken by the institute and Manipal University would result in further strengthening of the relationships between the basic and engineering science departments.
