The Union Cabinet on Thursday give nod to the proposal for promulgation of “The Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teachers’ cadre) Ordinance, 2019.
This will provide for the reservation of faculty in appointments by direct recruitment of persons belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) and the Socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBL) in central education institutions and to matters connected to therewith or incidental thereto.
The ordinance will ensure that the constitutional provisions of reservation for SCs, STs as well as the socially and economically backward classes would get their due opportunity to get jobs in educational institutions as per the constitutional provisions.
It will also ensure that the process of recruitment of faculty is resumed and the vacancies filled up.
The cabinet also approved the setting up of 50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas under the Civil/Defence Sector all over the country.
The schools are proposed to be opened in the Civil/Defense Sector and once they are fully functional they will provide education to approximately 50,000 students.
