A team of four students from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore’s (IIMB) two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management are among the top 10 finalists in the Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investing Challenge 2016.
Akshay Soni, Archit Jain, Dinkar Mohta and Swati Kanojia will present their investment proposals in Hong Kong on April 15.
Hosted by the Kellogg School of Management and Morgan Stanley's Institute for Sustainable Investing, the Sustainable Investing Challenge attracts the best from management schools across the world.
This year 127 investment proposals from 64 business schools, including Harvard Business School, the Kellogg School of Management and London Business School, were submitted.
“We will present an innovative and creative sustainable investment strategy capable of producing positive social and environmental impact without sacrificing financial returns. Our proposal highlights the use of leveraged investment in public-private collaborations to change waste management in India, across transportation, segregation, treatment and value generation,” said Akshay Soni.
The jury at the finals will comprise experts from the world’s leading financial institutions, impact investing funds and private equity funds.
Dr Charan Singh, RBI Chair Professor of Economics at IIM Bangalore and the team’s academic mentor, has expressed appreciation for the team’s innovative proposal.
