Applicants and colleges seeking to boost seat capacity in existing MBBS courses or setting up new medical colleges will now have to mandatorily file applications online.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday introduced the new procedure for submitting applications/proposals, as an “add-on” procedure that will run parallel with manual submission of applications.

“As per the revised procedure, an online application is mandatory and comes into effect from August 1, 2015,” an official release said. The last date for applications is August 31, 2015.

The Ministry, which has notified the entire procedure on its website, however, clarified that an online application “is not a complete application and only on filing a manual copy of the complete application, as prescribed by the Medical Council of India regulations, along with all valid documents drafts in original as evidence of fee paid and a copy of the system generated online application acknowledgement, will it “be deemed to be completed.”
