A unified secondary education board is the need of the hour in India’s secondary education, the PHD Chamber said here on Wednesday. It said that multiple boards governed by different States and Union Territories with diverse syllabi hardly serve the need for training the workforce as per the aspirations of industry.
The recommendation was made at the fourth national summit on ‘Skilling India for Global Competitiveness - Preparing Industry 4.0 Workforce’.
The chamber added that at a time when India has been able to put in place a single Goods and Services Tax (GST) with matured and transparent regulations in place, it can also devise ways and means to bring in an effective and unified education board.
This board can create facilities to nurture academics at secondary level as per the aptitude of students and polish their skill orientation with equally forceful vocational education system.
“In order to develop the potential talent pool, government academic institutions and industry should work in tandem so that the competitiveness and sustainability of Indian industry and its ability to add value will proceed as anticipated,” said DK Aggarwal, Vice President, PHD Chamber.
