There is a direct connection between progress and excellence in education on the one hand and growth in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of an economy on the other, according to Lakshmikumaran, Managing Partner of Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys. He was delivering the 9th Foundation Day lecture at ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) campus here on Friday.
“Education is a tool that can be used to develop something phenomenal. The growth achieved through education is beyond the creation of financial wealth and economic growth,” he said.
The education sector should be prepared to face challenges and take advantage of opportunities provided by changes in technology, he added. C Rangarajan, Chancellor of the University, said better education results in better development of the country and leverages the demographic dividend.
In his welcome address, J Mahender Reddy, Vice Chancellor, IFHE, said quality tertiary education is necessary to build the economy.
