SRM University has announced the entrance examination schedule for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes next year. This would apply to both domestic and international students seeking admission to the engineering, medicine & health sciences, management, and science and humanities streams.

The admission process is for all campuses of SRM University — three in Chennai and one in NCR Delhi — besides its group universities — SRM University, Haryana, at Sonepat, and SRM University Sikkim, an official statement said.

Admission to the B. Tech programme is through SRMJEEE – Joint Engineering Entrance Examination; to the M.Tech programme, SRMGEET – Graduate Engineering Entrance Test; and for MBA, SRMCAT – Common Admission Test.

SRMJEEE would be an online examination conducted at 200 centres across 150 cities between April 19 and 25. SRMGEET and SRMCAT would also be held online on April 23 and 24.

Online registration for the exams, which opened on October 19, will close on March 15, 2016. Examination slot booking is scheduled from March 26 to 30. Immediately upon choosing the exam slot, hall tickets can be downloaded. Results will be declared on May 4, followed by online and on-campus counselling.

The eligibility for B. Tech at SRM’s Kattankullathur Campus is a minimum aggregate of 65% in PCM/PCB; for other campuses and other programmes it is 60% in the qualifying exam.

This year, SRM has introduced two schemes to recognise and reward high calibre students. First, application fee waiver for those who score 95% and above or equivalent in the 10th Standard. Second, an essay contest to win a fully-paid tuition fee scholarship to an undergraduate engineering degree in any institution in India.

Several scholarships are also available, including Founders’ Scholarship – 100% waiver of tuition and hostel fees, and a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 for toppers in the SRMJEEE, JEE, CBSE / State board final and for outstanding sports performance; tuition fee waiver of 50% for 200 scholarships to applicants with 10000 SRMJEEE rank, and with 95% aggregate score in PCM / PCB in school final as per the eligibility.

According to the statement, SRM would also facilitate spot sanction of bank educational loans during admission counselling.

Last year over 1,50,000 students applied for the BTech programme.
