Ennovent Circle, a fund investing in social enterprises, few other investors have closed a pre-series A investment round in Hyderabad-based education enterprise Sudiksha Knowledge Solutions. The investment was led by Pearson Affordable Learning Fund, First Light Ventures, Eleos Foundation and Village Capital.

This investment in Sudiksha is the second round of investment facilitated by the Ennovent Circle – an exclusive group that collaborates to accelerate innovations for low-income markets – since its launch in June 2012.

It is also the third investment made by Ennovent’s Impact Investment Holding.

According to India’s 2011 census data, India has approximately 99 million children between the ages of 3 – 6 years. While the government runs ‘anganwadis’ to provide pre-school education to over 35 million children beneficiaries, most of these lack basic infrastructure and have severe manpower issues resulting in only 31 per cent of children attending these Centre’s regularly.

Founded by Naveen Kumar and Nimisha Mittal in 2011, Sudiksha Knowledge Systems aims to provides affordable early childhood education by setting up low-cost pre-school centres in low-income urban and semi-urban regions.

Sudiksha currently operates 21 pre-school centres impacting approximately 700 children in Andhra Pradesh.

With this investment, Sudiksha aims to pilot a franchisee model, which will allow the enterprise to rapidly scale operations nationally, develop new day care services in addition to the schools and grow its senior management team.

“This investment will enable Sudiksha to not only stabilize its existing operations but also further refine new streams of revenue and impact. We are excited that the Ennovent Circle has facilitated a second round of funding into Sudiksha and we hope to further scale our impact on children from low-income communities with this investment”, said Naveen Kumar.
