Appa Rao Podile, Vice-Chancellor, University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been unanimously elected as the president of the Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI).

“Podile has been the Council member of the AMI for the past six years and is known for his significant contributions to plant-microbe interactions,” UoH said in a release issued here on Thursday.

AMI is one of the oldest and reputed scientific organisations of India established in 1938. AMI has contributed significantly towards development of both research and teaching of microbiology in India. It also publishes a journal Indian Journal of Microbiology in collaboration with Springer.
