Industrialist Mukesh Ambani and banker Uday Kotak have come out in support of Congress leader and Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency candidate Milind Deora.

In a video released by Deora on Twitter, Reliance Industries  Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani said, “Milind is the man for South Mumbai. Having represented South Mumbai for 10 years, I believe that Milind has in-depth knowledge of the social, economic and cultural ecosystem of South Mumbai.”

Endorsing Deora, Ambani  said that under his leadership, small and big enterprises will flourish .

Uday Kotak, Managing Director and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank, said in the video, “Milind is truly Mumbai ka connection. I genuinely believe Milind understands South Mumbai,” adding that his family has been associated with Mumbai for a long time. The video also features a number of small entrepreneurs and businesses affirming support for Deora, who is also President of Mumbai Pradesh Congress.

The video comes at a time when political parties are trying to drum up support from businesses and farmers by promising job creation and better prices. It, however, received a mixed response on Twitter.

Milind Deora’s office said he has been receiving wide support from all quarters of trade and business in South Mumbai,” including  Stainless Steel Merchants Association of Bhuleshwar, Bullion, Gems and Jewellery Association of Zaveri Bazaar, and diamond Merchants federation BDB.

Deora is contesting against Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant in the Mumbai South constituency.
