The Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh, which represents 60 farmer organisations, will hold demonstrations in Delhi to protest against the Centre for not implementing Swaminathan Commission’s recommendation on MSP. The report had recommended fixation of MSP for agriculture crops on the basis of actual cost of production plus 50 per cent profit.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, on a week-long India visit, will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. The discussions are likely to focus on defence and counter-terrorism measures.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to meet RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in Agra. The UP chief minister is likely to apprise Bhagwat on his government’s performance over the last year. Bhagwat is on a UP tour to meet RSS workers.

Haryana will bring together stakeholders at a farming summit in Hissar today. The summit is aimed seeking ways to double the income of farmers. Issues such as crop diversification, climate smart farming, food processing, etc. would be discussed at the  summit.

China’s rising power and a resurgent trans-Pacific trade pact will be at the top of the agenda when Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull and US President Donald Trump meet in Washington today. The meeting comes as both seek to repair a relationship damaged last year by a row over asylum seekers.
