Five things to watch out for on January 23, 2019

The Tamil Nadu Global Investors’ Meet will commence on Wednesday. Tamil Nadu has sent a strong signal to investors by making back-to-back announcements last week. These included setting up a FinTech centre in the city followed by the start up and innovation policy to provide an enabling and innovative ecosystem in the State.

The second round of India’s tour in New Zealand will begin on Wednesday. The men in blue are gearing up for a series of cricket matches against New Zealand. Team India, led by Virat Kohli, will play against the Kiwis in five ODIs and three T20 internationals in the 19-day-long tour.

South Africa’s tourism minister, Derek Hanekom, will be visiting India on Wednesday. He will engage with key representatives of the Indian travel and tourism ecosystem including trade partners during his visit. According to a statement issued by the South Africa Tourism Department, Hanekom will seek key market insights in an effort to further grow outbound tourism from the region.

President Ram Nath Kovind will address the last day of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas on Wednesday. The two-day conclave saw the participation of over 5000 participants. The participants will visit Prayagraj for the Kumbh Mela on January 24 and then head to Delhi to witness the Republic Day parade on January 26.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will visit their constituencies - Amethi and Rae Bareli – on Wednesday and Thursday. This comes months before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The Congress Party’s President is likely to meet the district vigilance and monitoring committee during his visit.
