The Lokpal selection committee, headed by the Prime Minister, will meet today to set up a search panel for recommending names for the appointment of the anti-graft ombudsman and its members. The committee comprises the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice of India, Lok Sabha Speaker, the leader of the largest opposition party and an eminent jurist.  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to meet an all-party delegation from Kerala. Led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the delegation will take up increase of Kerala’s foodgrains quota and apprehensions over the much-awaited Kanjikode Coach Factory in Palakkad district, besides a host of other development issues. Kicking up a political row, an all-party delegation had been denied permission to meet Modi in June. 

The National Green Tribunal will hear  the pleas against cutting of over 16,000 trees under the General Pool Residential Accommodation project in South Delhi. The petitions state that environmental clearance for the project has ignored the assessment of population density post-redevelopment and floating population density.  Also, the manifold increase in air pollution, leading to an unprecedented AQI, has not been addressed, the petitions allege. 

The Tamil Nadu government will release water from the Mettur dam. The storage level in the dam has touched almost 100 feet. The full storage level of the reservoir is 120 feet. The move will come as a relief to the farmers of the Cauvery delta region. 

Honda Cars is to launch the updated Jazz in the Indian market on Thursday. The refreshed Jazz was first unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show. will compete in the same segment as the Hyundai i20.
