Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Noida on Monday to inaugurate the new manufacturing unit of Samsung Electronics. Modi will be accompanied by by Korean President Moon Jae-in.Samsung India is set to announce a key business expansion to further cement its position in the country. H.C. Hong, President and CEO, Samsung India, will be present at the occasion. The business expansion comes after a year when in June 2017, the South Korean giant had announced Rs 4,915 crore investment in expanding its Noida plant.

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation is organising a two-day international round table conference in New Delhi on July 9th & 10th. The objective of the conference is to identify innovative ideas for improving the statistical system in India, taking cues from the best practices followed in advanced countries like Canada, UK, and Australia. The conference will be inaugurated by D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Hon’ble Union Minister of Statistics & Programme Implementation, in the presence of Vijay Goel, Hon’ble Minister of State, and K.V. Eapen, Secretary, Statistics & Programme Implementation.

After putting off his visit to Tamil Nadu twice last year, BJP president Amit Shah will be visiting Chennai on July 9 to prepare the state unit for the crucial 2019 Lok Sabha polls as part of his nationwide tour programme to strengthen the party organisation. Shah's visit comes at a time when the State has been witnessing a series of protests one after the other from anti-Sterlite protests followed by the latest Chennai-Salem Greenfield Highway project protests.

The National Fisheries Development Board is celebrating national fish farmers' day in Visakhapatnam from July 9. Executive Directors (Technical) of NFDB-Hyderabad, B K Chand and GRathin Raj, say that technical session, exhibition, fish festival, cultural programmes and award presentation will be a part of the two-day celebrations. About 18 progressive farmers, entrepreneurs and groups from various states, will be awarded under nine categories.

Students and faculty of the Manipur University are set to take part in a hunger strike from July 9 till July 21 demanding the removal of the vice-chancellor. Separate departments of the University would be participating in the 13-day strike with the Mathematics and Statistics department kick-starting the strike. Jointly organised by the Manipur University Students’ Union, Manipur University Staffs’ Association and the Manipur University Teachers’ Union, the MUSU has been protesting against VC Adya Prasad Pandey since May 30, leading to a shutdown of the administrative block.
