India Post Payments Bank will launch today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the bank at an event to at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. Simultaneously, 650 branches and 3,250 access points will go live. The payments bank, where the Government holds 100 per cent equity, will leverage the vast network of the Department of Posts that has more than three lakh postmen and Grameen Dak Sewaks.

India and Singapore will initiate the third review of their existing free trade agreement. Both the countries recently signed the second protocol to amend the pact, officially dubbed as Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement. This agreement, which has liberalised rules for trade in goods and services, came into force on August 1, 2005 and the first review was concluded in October 2007 and the second one in June this year. In an FTA review, two trading partners look to further relax rules to increase trade.

Buying a car or two-wheeler is set to become expensive from Saturday as long-term third party insurance policy has been made mandatory by the IRDAI following a Supreme Court order.  As per the court order, it is mandatory for all general insurance companies to issue a three-year third party insurance cover for new cars and five-year third party (TP) insurance cover for new two-wheelers as a separate product or as part of a comprehensive insurance product. As per the Motor Vehicles Act, third-party insurance is mandatory.

The fourth International Ayurveda Congress will kick off in Leiden, Netherlands. The fourth IAvC will explore the 340-year relationship between the Netherlands and India and bring to light traditional natural remedies from India and Europe. Union Minister of State for Ayush Shripad Yesso Naik leads a delegation comprising senior officials from the Ministry of Ayush, including the Pharmacopoeia Commission of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy.

Pindara Thakur village under Amethi parliamentary constituency of Congress president Rahul Gandhi will go fully digital. Located in Musafirkhana tehsil of the district, the village would go digital under the Digital India Programme of the Union government and will have access to 206 government services. The village would be digitally linked to the outside world in a formal ceremony on September 1 by Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani.
