The Supreme Court will hear ArcelorMittal's plea challenging NCLAT order on Essar Steel auction. NCLAT has said ArcelorMittal must clear the Rs 7,000 crore dues of its previously associated firms to qualify for the Essar Steel acquisition. The world's largest steel producer has offered Rs 42,000 crore for Essar Steel Ltd, upstaging a Rs 37,000 crore bid by Russia’s VTB Group-backed Numetal. 

The Westminster Magistrates Court in London will hear the closing arguments in the Vijay Mallya extradition case. At the last hearing on July 31, the court had given India three weeks to submit a video showing the natural light available to inmates of Barrack 12 of Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai as Vijay Mallya’s defence team had claimed the Indian government’s assurances “cannot be relied upon". Mallya, who has been on bail on an extradition warrant since his arrest in April last year, is fighting extradition to India on charges of fraud and money laundering amounting to around Rs 9,000 crore. 

Apple is expected to launch three new smartphones today at an event in California. Analysts expect the company to release an iPhone with an edge-to-edge display similar to the iPhone X but using less-costly LCD screen technology. Apple has for years released its new phone models in the second week of September, and often updates other product lines. The company has already given base-model iPads and some MacBook laptops an update this year.

Tata Motors will launch its crossover hatchback the Tata Tiago NRG. The Tiago NRG will compete in the same segment as the Maruti Celerio and the Ford Freestyle. Tata Motors' recently launched new-generation cars has helped it log an over 52 per cent growth in the first quarter against the industry's 13.1 per cent.

Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik will participate in the State's investment roadshow in Delhi ahead of the Make in Odisha conclave in November.   The roadshow will highlight the State's investment potential and business opportunities.
