The Supreme Court is set to pronounce its verdict on the Constitutional validity of Aadhaar. The apex court reserved its verdict in May after a marathon hearing which went on for 38 days spanning four months.  The government had made Aadhaar compulsory for several services and welfare measures, including PAN cards, bank accounts and mobile phone services. 

The Union Cabinet is likely to discuss draft of the new telecom policy. The government recently issued the draft National Digital Communications Policy, which once approved, will set the roadmap for attracting investment of around Rs 6.5 lakh crore in the telecom sector. The Cabinet is also likely to consider a proposal to launch a new scheme ‘Operation Green’ with a corpus of Rs 500 crore to aid farmers in times of erratic price fluctuation in tomatoes, onions and potatoes.

India and Mauritius will begin the next round of negotiations for the proposed free trade agreement. During the talks, to be held over three days, both sides will discuss issues related to trade in goods and services. The bilateral trade between the countries increased to USD 1.1 billion in 2017-18 from USD 900 million in 2016-17.

The US Federal Reserve will announce its monetary policy, on Wednesday, at the end of its two-day policy meeting. Investors expect the Fed to raise interest rates for the eighth time since late 2015.  The Fed's case for continuing its tightening path has been bolstered by a rise in inflation and with substantial employment gains being made as the economy grows. Markets are also betting on another rate hike before year-end.

Global logistics meet FIATA opens in Delhi. Over 1,000 delegates from 120 countries are expected to participate in the four-day event, held for the first time in India. In 2014, India lost to Malaysia, which hosted the event in 2017. The theme for this year is ‘The Future Starts Here.’ FIATA is the only international body of freight forwarders that sets industry standards and participates in rule making.
