Banks will remain open on Saturday and Sunday to clear the rush of customers wanting to exchange their old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. With banks open for public transactions during the weekend, the payment systems (RTGS, NEFT, cheque clearing, repo, CBLO and call markets) will also remain open on these two days.

The Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) committee, which has been tasked with suggesting a future fiscal roadmap, is likely to submit its report by November 12. The panel’s report is likely to have ‘excuse clauses’, which will absolve the government of meeting its fiscal commitments for any given year under certain conditions. The recommendations of the panel – headed by former MP and revenue and expenditure secretary N K Singh – could also include repealing the FRBM Act and replacing it with an updated law.

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal will launch a ‘youth manifesto’ for Goa on Saturday as the state heads into Assembly elections early next year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to visit Goa on Sunday to lay the foundation stone of Mopa international airport in the northern part of the state. He is also scheduled to visit Belagavi to inaugurate the 101st Foundation Day programme of KLES at Lingaraj College campus that day.

The Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) will become the first state association to hold elections on Sunday, in accordance with the recommendations of the Justice RM Lodha Committee. VCA has called a special general meeting to hold the elections. Retired Justice KJ Rohee has been appointed the election officer.
